Hotel Eden Garden

This very friendly hotel was our first accommodation in Sri Lanka. It was convenient to do one-day-tours to the historical ancient capitals Anuradhapura and Pollonaruwa, to Sigiriya fortress, to Dambulla Cave Temple. We received a refurbished room with a great shower and a direct terrace to the Eden Garden. All meals were delicious in the restaurant in evening and in morning too.

There was black mold all over the wall of my room. That’s really all you need to know. But, I’ll continue. When I walked into my room, I immediately smelled a moldy and musty smell. I was exhausted from traveling that day, and laid down on the bed only to notice the wall was completely peppered with spots of black mold on the wallpaper. I also noticed some weird fungus growing behind the bed post. The refrigerator in the room was also moldy. I was brought here as part of a tour, which I’m sure my tour guide received a kickback from. I would absolutely NOT recommend this place. I was NOT comfortable and started to have an allergic reaction. They were able to move me rooms, but my new room still smelled a bit moldy, but at least I couldn’t see the mold this time. DO NOT STAY HERE. If this a place you are supposed to stay on your tour, make sure to change it ASAP!!!!

One of the best family hotel I went .Had a lovely time. Food is tasty and they have a good selection of Sri Lanken food. The pool is awesome after the hiking if lion rock. The rooms are specious and have amenities as well. Staff is friendly and definitely will visit again.

A family friendly hotel with a beautiful garden.. Rice and curry is a must try. They arranged me a jeep safari. The service is great and the pool is awesome after a hike at lion Rock.. Definitely will visit again..

The staff does its best to make guests comfortable, but cannot prevent our experience from being not only positive. The hotel is in need of a thorough renovation, it is run down. The air conditioner in our room is in need of replacement and makes too much noise to leave it on at night. The refrigerator was old and rusty, the sink was loose, and very annoying the shower either gave way too hot water or too cold. The beds were downright bad and the sheets were much too small. The tiles on the walkways are frequently broken which creates dangerous situations. The tiles at the pool are also frequently broken and the water does not make a clean impression. Our son opened his knee on a broken tile in the pool. The pump and filter system seem to be too little in operation. The restaurant makes an unsociable impression while the price point suggests a five-star hotel. Three beers are sold for $13.75, which is more than we have paid anywhere in the past three weeks. Eating at night, therefore, we would not recommend. It seems that the owner does not put the customer first; the fact that his own new Toyota Prado is parked pontifically in front of the reception where guests are normally welcomed is quite exemplary of this. What does confirm the picture is that in addition to a 10% service charge, credit card payments can only be made in $ at a very unfavorable exchange rate -/- 10%. This is downright bad. Customer focus best management!
